Abstract: In this lecture I will start with some of the basics of phase contrast imaging, phase contrast imaging in electron microscope, definition of spatial resolution in the presence of aberrations, spatial and temporal coherence and their effect on image contrast, various aberrations and aberration correctors as implemented in a transmission electron microscope. After this I will go through aberration corrected imaging techniques at atomic resolution, various examples with direct interpretation. Methods will be mentioned briefly where extensive data analysis is required. Lastly, a brief mention on the future potential of the technique in physical sciences.
