ANRF National Facility for Cryo-Electron Microscopy at IIT Madras
We empower students, researchers, and faculty with cutting-edge Cryo-Electron Microscopy (cryo-EM) tools and rigorous training to drive breakthroughs in basic and applied research. Our facility serves as a hub for innovation across the life sciences, materials science, and environmental science.
From introductory orientations for undergraduates to advanced, hands-on sessions for academic and industry professionals, we provide the expertise needed to reveal atomic-level insights. Our specialist team is dedicated to maintaining world-class instrumentation, guiding users through every stage of the imaging process, and fostering collaborations that enrich the global scientific community.
Key Capabilities:
- Advanced Instrumentation: We house and operate two high-end electron microscopes:
- Krios G4: 300 kV XFEG + F4i Direct Electron Detector + Selectris Energy Filter.
- Talos F200i: 200 kV XFEG + Ceta 16M CMOS Camera + Panther STEM Detector + Dual-X EDS Detector.
- Specialized Labs: A dedicated sample preparation laboratory for both standard TEM and cryo-TEM grids.
- Comprehensive Training: Programs tailored for all levels, from students to faculty, in cryo-EM techniques.
- End-to-End Support: Expert assistance with grid preparation, data collection, computational analysis, and result interpretation.
- Industrial Services: Targeted consultations, data acquisition, and image analysis for industrial clients.
